Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Framework

The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national credential system that assures the competence and quality of the workforce. To encourage and award individuals within the WSQ framework, SkillsFuture provides funding to accredited training programmes. This funding is available to both self- and company-sponsored individuals.

Funding support covers certifiable courses from up to 50% to as high as 95% of course fees for SSG-appointed courses. For precise funding amounts and specific rates at the Baseline and Mid-Career Tiers, please consult the table above.

SkillsFuture Credit Eligible Courses

All Singaporeans aged 25 years and above are entitled to $500 in SkillsFuture credits. Furthermore, Singaporeans aged 40 and above will receive extra mid-career support through a $4,000 top-up, under the new SkillsFuture Level-Up programme.

This is in addition to the enhanced one-time top-up of $500 for individuals aged between 40 and 60 in 2020.

Security courses at KnowledgeTree are SkillsFuture approved. We accept payment using SkillsFuture credits at the Base Tier and offer selected courses supported by the Mid-Career Tier.

Upgrade with the Progressive Wage Model (PWM)

The Progressive Wage Model (PWM) is a wage structure that strives to uplift the wages of workers through annual increments and constant upskilling.

In the security industry, it comprises a five-level career progression path, beginning with a security officer license, before moving on to senior security officer, security supervisor, senior security supervisor, and ultimately to chief security officer.

The Progressive Wage Model is regularly updated to meet changing demands, encompassing not only salary adjustments but also operational enhancements such as technology integration.

KnowledgeTree’s programmes all adhere to the Progressive Wage Model, ensuring a comprehensive and skilled career trajectory in security. Learn more about the PWM here.

From Basic Licensing Units (BLUs) to Certificate Level Modules

KnowledgeTree’s security courses accommodate Basic Licensing Units under the Progressive Wage Model. Aspiring security officers must meet specific criteria, namely to successfully pass three WSQ courses:


Exemptions may apply to ex-regulars and NSFs. For further details, please consult the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD).

Additionally, KnowledgeTree provides Certificate Level modules for a WSQ Certificate in Security, alongside Advanced Certificate Levels for a WSQ Advanced Certificate in Security. Singaporeans who achieve a WSQ full qualification are eligible to apply for a cash award of either $200 or $1,000 disbursed via PayNow.
