ABOUT

PGPS & OBSE – From 1 July 2023, the new mandatory basic licensing course for security officers is an integrated course that combines the previously separate Provide Guard and Patrol Services (PGPS) and Operate Basic Security Equipment (OBSE) modules into a single course.

Guard and Patrol, Access Control Management, or Provide Guard and Patrol Services and Operate Basic Security Equipment, will equip security officers with the basic security skills and knowledge needed to conduct guard and patrol activities effectively, as well as to handle basic security equipment in their workplace. In this fundamental course, security industry professionals will acquire the expertise on how to execute static guard duties, perform access control management, conduct patrol services, address phone calls and lost properties, and handle security incidents such as theft, alarms and more. It is a detailed programme that teaches how to perform security duties comprehensively and in compliance with regulations.

This course constitutes one of three basic licensing modules for the Basic Security Officer (SO) course.

For the remaining two basic licensing units, check out Handle Security Incidents and Services (HSIS) and Recognise Terrorist Threats (RTT).

SYLLABUS

1. Prepare for security duties
2. Conduct systematic checks using the equipment checklist for handing over and taking over duty.
3. Perform static guard duty
4. Patrol the premises
5. Hand over duty and provide follow-up instructions

ASSESSMENT

1. Assessment will be conducted by an independent assessor (examiner) from *POLWEL (*Police Welfare Co-operative)
2. Assessment format: Role-Play and Oral Questions
3. Assessment duration: 2 hours

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

1. Trainee must be able to speak, write and understand simple English as the courses are conducted in English.

3 Training Days + 1 (In-Person)

Attendance requirement

Learners are required to attain the full training duration for each module and sit for the assessment

Course completion requirements

Learners are required to have 100% attendance and obtain a “Competent” for assessment

REFUND POLICY

Course Fee refunds has to be made at least 3 working days before course start date. Course fees are non-refundable once your a]endance is confirmed.

Reassessment Policy

Learners who fail to obtain a competent result are required to pay for the reassessment fees and retake assessment within 60 days from the original course date. Otherwise, learners are required to pay the balance of the full course fee if they choose to withdraw from the course.
