WSQ Security Certificates | Is There An Expiry Date?

Being one of the most common questions we get from our learners, we decided to prepare an article for our learners to understand their certifications a little better. While some SkillsFutureSG approved WSQ courses do come with a validity period such as the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, WSQ Security Certificates offered at KnowledgeTree Training Centre doesn’t have an expiration date.

What If I Need A Refresher On The Things Taught?

While there is no expiration date for our WSQ security courses, many learners enrolled with us do not necessarily want to enter the security industry as soon as they pass their courses and attain their security licence. Most of them merely see this as a backup plan for them should they want to look for a job in the security industry later.

As a result, these individuals may have forgotten most of the concepts and theories taught in the classes. While their past certifications are still valid, their employer will place them on an On-The-Job Training (OJT) as a refresher for them to acclimate themselves for their job ahead.

How Do I Check What Certificates Do I Have?

For Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PR), you can log in to the MySkillsFuture portal via Singpass to gain access to all your e-Certs attained. Alternatively, you may refer to the guide here.

How To Check Whether My Certificate Is Authentic And Recognised?

Learners can visit check their e-certificates on their Skills Passport page. You can download the OpenCert file and validate it on Opencerts.

Opencerts is developed by GovTech Singapore in cooperation with the OpenCerts Consortium. OpenCerts provides a common standard for the issuance of digital certificates and verification of the authenticity of those certificates. By adopting this common standard, it aims to allow Singaporeans to easily access and retrieve their digital certificates from a single location through their Skills Passport on MySkillsFuture. You may see this video guide here.

The (i) N, O and A Levels, (ii) ITE qualifications, (iii) diploma and degree qualifications from polytechnics, LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Autonomous Universities (AUs) and the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), as well as (iv) Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) digital certificates will be uploaded starting from 2021.

What Other Courses Can I Take To Upgrade Myself?

Once learners have passed the 3 Basic Learning Units (BLUs) to attain their security licence, they are able to further upgrade themselves by enrolling into our Senior Security Officer (SSO) courses or even our events security courses which allows them to qualify for events security jobs.

Did you know KnowledgeTree also conducts Private Investigation courses for learners that are interested in joining the PI industry? Also, learners with SkillsFuture Credit are also available to use their credits to offset prevailing course fees after deducting eligible Government funding.
