Conduct Security Screening using X-Ray Machine

Introduction

In recent years, X-Ray screening certification is in demand as there are more sites that require security officers to operate X-Ray machines in their line of work. Having X-Ray certification is an advantage for security officers as part of their enhanced job scope.

What is the type of job that requires officers to operate X-Ray machines?

  • Events security – Concerts, and international sporting events operation commonly requires X-Ray screening
  • Public Transport – X-Ray screening at MRT stations
  • Secured buildings –Government buildings or protected access buildings
  • Aviation/Immigration  – Singapore airport,  ferry terminals, land immigration checkpoints

What will you learn in X-Ray course?

  • Identify suspicious threats and prohibited items when using an X-Ray machine
  • Perform the correct procedures and protocols on how to operate an X-Ray machine to screen a person’s bag
  • Look out for suspicious and prohibited threats while conducting screening on a person’s bag and deal with these threats using the proper procedure
  • Be deployed to conduct screening on a person’s bag while using X-Ray machine based on PLRD regulations

    I am new to the security industry, can I attend the X-Ray course only?

    If you do not have any prior experience, you are required to complete the 3 following courses under the Basic Licencing Unit (BLUs) with KnowledgeTree to be eligible for a security licence in Singapore.

    The 3 courses are as follows:

    1. Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services – PGPS
    2. Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services – HSIS
    3. Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threat – RTT

    Once the 3 basic modules are completed, interested officers may further upgrade by enrolling into the event security courses which allow you to work for events security jobs.

    How to start registering for the security basic courses?

    Learners may enrol for security courses and view the available course schedule through our registration portal here. Kindly note that learners are required to create a student account on our portal before registering for their intended course.
