Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

KnowledgeTree Training Centre is pleased to announce that our courses are now supported under NTUC’s Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).

In this article, we will provide you with a better understanding of UTAP and its usage for your intended courses at KnowledgeTree Training Centre.

About Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

The Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) is a training benefit to encourage union members to attend courses for skills upgrading. Members who initiate training on their own could enjoy up to $250.00 course fee support per year under UTAP. Members aged 40 and above can get up to $500.00 course fee support per year.

UTAP’s course fee support will help to cover 50% of the course fees that you pay out of your own pockets, capped at either $250.00 or $500.00 depending on your age.

What are the criteria for UTAP funding?

  • All active NTUC members are eligible
  • Must meet the minimum attendance requirement and pass the assessment
  • UTAP claims application must be made within 6 months of course completion

Who can apply for UTAP funding?

All NTUC members or Union members (Including Malaysian who are union member) can apply for UTAP. However, the following criteria must be met to be eligible for UTAP:

  • Paid-up union membership before the course commenced, throughout the course, and at the point of claim
  • Course by training provider must be supported under UTAP, and training must commence within the supported period
  • The course must not be fully funded through company sponsorship or other types of funding
  • You must not be blacklisted by SSG for training grants
  • You must achieve minimum attendance for the course based on existing Government regulations and sit for all prescribed examination(s) if any
  • UTAP application must be submitted within 6 months after course completion

How to check my NTUC member status?

You may check your NTUC member status by calling 6213 8008. (Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm and Saturday, 9.00am – 12.30pm)

How to apply for UTAP?

1. Find a course that is supported by UTAP

2. Register for a course with a training provider and attend training. For course information and enrolment, please contact the training provider

3. Log in to the U Portal account to submit the UTAP application (https://www.ntuc.org.sg/uportal/E-Services). NTUC members should apply for their UTAP claim within 6 months after the course ends. *Late applications will be rejected

What do you need to submit for UTAP claims application?

You must first complete the course successfully and then proceed to submit for UTAP claims. You will require:

  • Course details such as: Course Title, Course Start, Course End Date, and Nett Fee Paid
  • Submission of the following documents: Proof of payment such as Invoice
  • Proof of Completion such as SOA or Assessment Record

When will I receive my claims?

If you meet all UTAP claims criteria, you should receive your claims within 4 weeks after the submission of the relevant information. You will receive an email notification upon successful disbursement.

How to start registering for security courses?

Learners may enrol for security courses and view the available course schedule through our registration portal here. Kindly note that learners are required to create a student account on our portal before registering for their intended course. Please ensure that learners have a personal email address in order to create a student account with us.
